オーストラリア、クイーンズランド州のビニールレジ袋が撤廃されました

オーストラリアは、全国的にエコの意識が高いですが、2018年7月からクイーンズランド州も遅ればせながら、ビニールレジ袋が全面的に撤廃となりました。
ビニール袋撤廃のルールは、全ての小売店に適用されます。（オンラインショップにも適用される、となっていますが、一体どうやって取り締まるのか疑問は残ります・・・）
そもそも、ビニール袋撤廃に踏み切ったのには、クイーンズランド州では、毎年10億枚ほどのレジ袋が使用され、レジ袋の大半は埋め立てられるものの、1600万枚がごみとなるので、環境保護の観点から良くない、と考える背景があります。

Millions of dollars are spent each year in litter cleanup costs.

What is the government doing?

As part of its plastic pollution reduction plan, the government is introducing a ban on the supply of single-use lightweight plastic shopping bags, including biodegradable bags from the 1st of July 2018.

（プラスチック環境汚染削減プランの一環として、政府は、2018年7月1日よりバイオディグレーダブルなビニール袋を含む、使い捨て軽量ビニールレジ袋の禁止を導入します）

Some major supermarkets have already committed to stop supplying lightweight plastic shopping bags.

The ban will begin on the 1st of July 2018.

From this date, retailers will not be allowed to supply lightweight plastic shopping bags to customers.

The ban will only apply to lightweight single-use plastic shopping bags.
