バス遠足へ行こう！やさしい英作文講座

外資系の会社に勤務されていると、当然まわりは外国人が多いと思います。そしてその外国人の皆さん、エクスパッツ、Expatriatesは、その会社の本国から派遣されている人だったり、あるいは他の国籍であっても、能力を見込まれて採用されている人だったりといろいろでしょう。エクスパッツ、Expatriates の皆さん。かっこいいですね。
例えば、肩まであるウェーブのかかったブルネットの髪をなびかせてオフィス内を颯爽と歩く社長秘書のCatherine。口髭を蓄えて、いつもメガネの奥から細い目でパソコンの画面を睨み、目にもとまらぬブラインドタッチでキーボードを操作するRobert。
うっとり見とれてしまいますね。そして共通していますのは、みんな仕事とプライベート、オンとオフをはっきりと分けるということだと思います。つまり休日は仕事上のお付き合いなんてしませんよというのが原則です。

でも、ときには日本の風習にも浸ってもらいましょう。休みの日にみんなで出かけましょう。Outing 、遠足です。みんなでバス遠足に行きましょう。
Cathy もBob も本当はそういうの行ってみたいと思っているのです。なかなか言い出せないだけですよ。誘ってあげれば目を輝かせて来てくれますよ。気難しいということになっているBob はしょうがないなあという表情は見せますが、本当は嬉しいのです。Cathyも実は社長のおかしなクセをみんなに教えてあげたいと思っているのですよ。いい機会になります。
さあ見所満載の計画を立てて、鮮やかな英語の案内文を作ってみましょう。

遠足の行程、itinerary、を決めましょう。

集合・出発場所
9:00 オフィスのある六本木グランドタワー から大型観光バスで移動します。
10:00 横浜本牧　三渓園　園内散策
12:00 横浜中華街　昼食
14:00 鎌倉　鶴岡八幡宮　参拝　　小町通り　自由散策
18:00 六本木グランドタワー帰着　

今回は横浜、鎌倉を巡る旅です。名園、三渓園を散策します。そして中華街で美味しいランチ。もちろんアルコールOKです。バスの中ですでにできあがっている人もいるでしょうけれど。
午後は鎌倉へ。由緒ある鶴岡八幡宮を参拝してもらいます。そのあとは小町通りで自由に買い物あるいは食べ歩きをしてもらいます。そしてもうひとつの重要なポイントはバス内で退屈させないこと。いろんな余興を用意しておきましょう。いく先々での楽しさがにじみ出てくるような案内文章を考えて下さい。

さあ、英語で書いてみましょう。旅行会社のつくる日程表のように、時刻ごとの表のようにしてももちろんいいのですが、今回は、短い旅行ですし、多少読み物風にしてみました。難しい表現は一切必要なく、分かりやすく書いていけばいいと思います。

三渓園の概略に触れ、さくらの名所であることを伝えます。そしてもしかしたら美しく着飾った新婚カップルに出会えるかもしれないということも。三渓園は結婚記念写真撮影の名所でもありますので。中華街では食べ放題ビュッフェです。楽しく食べて飲んでくださいということです。鶴岡八幡宮では有名な暗殺事件の話を記載して、興味を引きましょう。外国人はこういった日本の逸話が大好きです。参考までに和訳文も掲載しておきますのでわからない単語がありましたら参照してください。

Itinerary of our great outing to Yokohama and Kamakura 

Date of the outing: Saturday, March 30th, 20XX

Departure 9am From Roppongi Ground Tower where our office are in. 
Please be in the entrance of the tower at 8:40am 
A luxury sightseeing bus takes us to nice places comfortably.In the bus snacks and drinks are distributed.
Don't worry, beers and wines are included.It's a holiday. Let's enjoy even in the morning.

10am 
Arriving at Sankeien, Honmoku Yokohama 
Sankeien is a very famous and historical garden. In wide area there are a lot of memorial architectures which were transported from Kyoto or some other areas.The architectures were originally built by authorities in each era. 
Also cherry blossoms are in full blooming on the day. Here is the number one spot for cherry blossom viewing in Yokohama. We can enjoy stories of Japanese history and delight of this moment there. 
If we are lucky, we can see some new married couples who are dressed up and just taken commemorative photos in the beautiful garden by professional photographers. Please call out to them "congratulations!". They kindly show you very nice smile.

Then after walking in the beautiful garden we are hungry enough to have lunch. Let's go to China town to eat a lot. It takes only 15 minutes from Sankeien to the big China town called Yokohama Chuka-gai.

Arriving at Yokohama Chuka-gai
Dim Sum buffet which is all-you-can-eat is served for you. 
Of course free drinks including beer, whisky, wines etc. are available. This lunch is one of the highlights of this great tour. Please enjoy nice Chinese foods and drinks. 

Let's move to Kamakura with satisfied stomach. 
While on the way to Kamakura, we will play bingo.Many special prizes are ready. Please actively participate.

Arriving at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu
As you know, Kamakura was one of the capital in Japanese history. There was the Kamakura shogunate of Minamoto in the 12th,13th century.  This shogunate defended the country from the Mongolian Invasion. It is a famous story. 

The shrine of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu was built by Minamoto Yoritomo who was the founder of the Kamakura shogunate.
However this shrine has a terrible story. 
An assassination occurred here. The third Shogun, Minamoto Sanetomo was killed by his nephew, Kugyou because of successor problem. When snow was falling heavily on January 27th, 1219, Kugyou cut Sanetomo to death with a sword on the stairs to the hall of worship. Kugyou had hidden himself behind a large ginkgo tree on the left side of the stairs. The large old ginkgo tree unfortunately fell down due to strong wind on March 10th, 2010. You can see a big stump of the tree beside the stairs. Some historians have various views of this murder. Please study them if you are interested in.     

In Komachi street located from Tsurugaoka Hachimanngu through to JR Kamakura station, you can enjoy shopping various attractive souvenirs and eating some sweets such as crape, chocolate, waffle, and also Japanese snacks such as okonomiyaki, tenmusu and croquette. 

Beginning to get dark in the evening, we should go back to Roppongi. On the bus going home, the big karaoke contest will be held. Please sing any songs you like even in Japanese, English or other languages. Very much appreciated if you let us know in advance what songs you will sing because we need to prepare the music source of the songs.

横浜・鎌倉への遠足です

出発　午前9時
オフィスのある六本木グランドタワーからの出発となります。
朝8時40分にタワーのエントランスに集合してください。
豪華な観光バスで出発です。バス内ではお菓子や飲み物をお配りします。ビールやワインもありますよ。休日です。朝から楽しみましょう。

午前10時
横浜本牧にあります、三渓園に到着です。三渓園は有名な歴史ある庭園です。
広い園内には京都などから移設されました記念すべき建築物が数多くあります。それらの建築物は時の権力者によって建てられたものでした。
そしてさくらも満開です。ここは横浜でも一番のさくらの名所なのです。日本の歴史に触れそして今現在の美しさを楽しむことができます。
幸運にも、新婚カップルの記念撮影に出くわすかもしれません。美しい庭園で、着飾ったカップルがプロカメラマンに撮影されているのです。「おめでとう！」って声を掛けてみてください。すてきな笑顔で応えてくれますよ。
園内を歩き回ってお腹もすきました。チャイナタウンへ行きましょう。横浜中華街へはほんの15分ほどです。

お昼12時
横浜中華街到着。食べ放題の飲茶バイキングです。ビールもウイスキーもワインもありますよ。この昼食は遠足のハイライトのひとつです。大いに楽しんでください。
お腹も満たされましたら、鎌倉へ移動です。道中ビンゴゲームで遊びましょう。豪華賞品を用意しました。奮ってご参加ください。

午後2時
鶴岡八幡宮に到着です。
ご存知のとおり鎌倉は歴史上首都となっていたことがあります。12,13世紀に鎌倉幕府が置かれていたのでした。この幕府は蒙古襲来から日本を守ったことがよく知られていますね。鶴岡八幡宮は鎌倉幕府初代将軍源頼朝により建てられました。
しかしおそろしい出来事もあったのです。暗殺事件です。三代将軍源実朝は、甥の公暁に殺されました。後継者問題があったのです。雪の降りしきる1219年1月27日、公暁は境内の階段で実朝を切り殺しました。そのとき公暁は階段の左にある大銀杏の陰に隠れていたのでした。その大銀杏は残念ながら2010年3月10日に強風のために倒れてしまいました。しかし切り株は見ることができます。この暗殺事件についてはいろんな説があるようです。興味のある方は調べてみてください。

鶴岡八幡宮からJR鎌倉駅につながる小町通では、楽しいお土産を買ったり食べ歩きをしたりできますよ。クレープ、チョコレート、ワッフルなどのスイーツや、お好み焼、たこ焼き、コロッケなどもあります。

暗くなり始めましたら、六本木へ戻りましょう。
帰りのバスではカラオケ大会です。日本語、英語、あるいは何語でも、好きな歌をどうぞ。何を歌うか前もって教えてください。音源を用意しますので。

午後6時
六本木グランドタワーで解散です。
